Hello, my friends! As they always seem to do, this summer turned out far more hectic than I had imagined—I left a toxic workplace in July and, one month ago, started somewhere new.

I've talked about my old job a bit across social media. It was my first, coming out of law school. I loved it because it allowed me to pay my bills while also giving me the space and free time to write during the day. It stopped being that for me a long time ago, but I had become the proverbial frog in the pot of boiling water. I couldn't bring myself to leave until this winter, when a management change had us being worked like junior partners in a law firm without any of the pay, training, or benefits to go along with it.

I'm so, so glad for my new position. I've been in a role a month and a week and I feel like I can breathe for the first time in a long time—and it's also opened up my ability to write again! More on what that will mean below.
